Multiple Signers with Advanced Electronic Signatures

Coordinating several signatures can take time even when an agreement is electronic. The document still has to reach every participant, and someone must monitor who has completed the process.

Multiple people signing one agreement with advanced electronic signatures

AMODIT TrustCenter lets many people sign the same copy of a document at the same time. It supports agreements, statements, annexes and protocols without repeatedly emailing the file from one person to the next.

Legal status of advanced electronic signatures

The eIDAS Regulation and Polish law require the signature type to match the specific transaction. eIDAS states that an electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect or admissibility as evidence solely because it is electronic or does not meet the requirements of a qualified electronic signature.

Where Polish law requires documentary form, an advanced electronic signature can be sufficient. Article 26 of eIDAS defines four requirements:

  • it is uniquely linked to the signatory;
  • it can identify the signatory;
  • it is created using signature-creation data that the signatory can use under their sole control with a high level of confidence;
  • it is linked to the signed data so that any subsequent change is detectable.

Advanced signatures in AMODIT TrustCenter meet these conditions. AMODIT supports two advanced-signature options:

SMS signature uses a one-time code sent to the signer's phone and entered in AMODIT.

Handwritten signature plus SMS signature combines a signature drawn with a finger or stylus on a tablet or smartphone with a one-time SMS code.

Signing a document with an advanced electronic signature

  • Each participant receives an email with a link to the agreement.
  • The link opens a sign-in page where the participant enters a one-time SMS code.
  • The participant reviews the agreement, checks who has already signed and whose signatures are pending, then starts signing.
  • The participant selects SMS signature, confirms their identity and authority to represent the organization, and enters the SMS code.
  • After signing, the document is sent to the specified email address.

These steps produce an advanced electronic signature that complies with eIDAS. Learn more about electronic contract signing with AMODIT.
