Challenge: Enhancing the Application Permission Process

An IT industry client sought to automate the process of granting application access to new employees. The requirements included the ability to generate permission reports and to expedite the overall process.

The Solution Before System Implementation

Previously, permissions for individual applications were granted or revoked manually in response to separate requests, either sent via email or submitted on paper. Providing feedback after access was granted was optional, leading to communication gaps. Supervisors had to manually verify if an employee had access to all necessary applications, as there was no reporting capability.

Scope and Benefits of Implementation

We proposed a streamlined process using the AMODIT system, simplifying each step:

• The new employee’s supervisor submits a request for access to selected applications.
• The request is assigned to the responsible IT staff member or team.
• After granting access, the responsible individuals confirm task completion.
• The requester receives an email confirmation once the process is finalized.

Additionally, the team can now generate detailed reports from both the employee perspective (listing their application access) and the application’s perspective (identifying who has access). In case of an employee’s departure, the supervisor can request a bulk revocation of all permissions.
